When I lived in Foxhole years ago I regularly went to Belfield to watch the team play. My first taste of competative football at about 7 years old was to watch Foxhole United dominate their games and strike fear into their opponents.
20 years on and not a great deal has changed. The players at Foxhole are even more determined, more passionate and more hell bent on getting stuck into their games. This is the attitude that attracts me to Foxhole United because you will not find another club like ours anywhere!! This season will be the start of my 7th for Foxhole United and I can honestly say that it is going to be a belter! We have been stuck in a rut over the past few seasons but that`s all about to change. We now have a reserve side which can only make for a better club. The squads are healthy and full of talented players. This will give us many more options and more flexability. Once again I can see Foxhole going for promotion to be back where we belong in the higher divisions. We have had our success drought and now it`s time to pass that honour on to someone else. There is no better feeling than watching our game come together on a Saturday afternoon. We can make the best of teams look ordinary. The main reason for this is because we are one of the better teams!! I feel that we are grossly underestimated by many teams in the SDL and it`s due to this that I think we need to get out there and prove our metal.
When I put on the Foxhole United shirt it`s like pressing a switch that has a sign below it which says.........."UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU PRESS THIS SWITCH". It`s an automatic reaction I have to get kitted up and go out for battle. Come on lets face it, if you are going to play for a football team your heart needs to be in the right place. What`s the point of giving up your personal time just to have a kick about?? When you come to play for Foxhole United you WILL be 100% focused and committed, if you aren`t , then you WILL learn how to be!! That`s my motto.
There are many movements happening at Foxhole (most of them coming from the opposition`s toilet). I personally can`t wait to see the new developments taking place. The club will eventually have the facilities it deserves in the form of upgraded changing rooms/pitch and clubhouse. The next two years will be an exciting time for FOXHOLE UNITED FC, so if you want to be part of a football club that is set for great things I suggest you get a move on and get stuck in!!!
All the best,
Andy Colley.
