I have been at Foxhole United for 11 years and in this time I have been a Player, Assistant Manager and now Club Secretary.
My journey at the Foxes began in 1996. I had moved to Torbay a year earlier and was involved with a different club in Division 3 of the SDL. That year Foxhole United finished Runners-Up to the team I was in but in the closed season the then Foxhole United Manager, left the club (taking most of the players with him). My lad played for Foxhole United u12s Tigers and the manager took over as the seniors Manager. Who in turn ask me to play as they were struggling (lets face it they must have been to ask me) I had "hung me boots up" along time before due to a bad leg injury.
The thought of playing again was an attractive one and ended up playing most of the season and I'd found my football family.
Foxhole United is now my heart (lets face it, anyone involved in running a local football team, does it for love and no other reason) so I find my heart at a club with a pitch in need of major work. It had been known as "The Stadium of Stones" for many years and changing facilities that at best could be described as dilapidated. All Closed Season work is done by ourselves on a shoe string budget.
Looking to the future however, we now have 3 mini soccer sides that'll build year on year. We also have a senior reserves side again, that is doing well in Division 7 SDL, under Player Manager Martin Noye and a new management team in charge of the 1st XI in Tony Bickford & Kevin Bond, two well known names in the SDL. Along with George Thompson (Chairman), Craig Hodge (Mini-Soccer Co-ordinator) Sonia Hodge (Child Protection Officer) things at Foxhole are turning around.
The Chairman and I are also heavily involved with Foxhole Community Association, of which Foxhole United is part. We've been working tirelessly for some years to replace the existing buildings with a new state of the art building and training facilities. This "dream" is moving ever closer and plans for the new build in the final process and being produced and will appear on the web-site as soon as they are available.
One thing that will stay the same no matter what the future holds :- "I'm Foxhole till I die"
