Torquay United Trip Success

Foxhole Mini's had a successful trip to Torquay United this Saturday.

Torquay United run a Kick Off scheme, where they invite local clubs to come and spend the day at the Plainmoor ground.

The day started with a coaching session with Frank Prince, which was very enjoyable for the kids and the coaches alike.  All the children were praised for their good behaviour and i'll admit with the exception of a bit of over exuberance, I was generally happy with how all the boys aquitted themselves.

Under 10 Owen Hodge impressed Frank when he helped him demonstrate a coaching skill, Under 8 Tiger Liam Dowsing won an award for his good behaviour. Whilst in the penalty shoot out competitions, Harry Howell in the older and Riede Bain in the younger age group were the victors, winning a trophy a piece.

All the boys also got to keep a Torquay United t-shirt.

After the coaching the group had some lunch in the boots and laces and browsed the Torquay United Shop.

Then off on a tour of the stadium. The highlight being a trip round the changing rooms where we met Elliott Benyoun, Torquay's young Forward, who presented our trophies and allowed Robbie Williams to initial his hand. We also met goalkeeper Rice and outside some of the lads got their Torquay United Balls signed by a few player, including the exciting Torquay wide man, Danny Stevens.

When the visitors to Plainmoor,  Woking arrived it was time to finish the tour and find our seats for the Match.

All the boys made a good noise in support of Torquay and it was Elliott Benyoun who opened the scoring. A bit of luck from Robbie perhaps. Torquay sealed the win in the second half with a headed goal from Chris Hargreaves in to the goal at the end where we were sitting.

Man of the Match was Danny Stevens, with a fine display. I think the boys have at least 2 popular idols at Torquay now in Elliott and Danny. Thanks to them and the other Torquay players who signed footballs and calenders.

Torquay finished 2-0 and all in all a very successful day.

Thanks to everyone for coming along as it made it all the more enjoyable. I know a certain Torquay United number 1 fan who had a day to remember.
